Frontier Farwest Fishing Lodge - Smithers, BC Canada

We invite you to experience the ambiance of Frontier Farwest Fishing Lodge. Built in 1935, originally the Telkwa Creamery. We boast of having one of the finest heritage buildings decorated with fine antiques and collectibles. Although our facilities are fully modern, one cannot help but get lost in the memorabilia of yesteryear. Our chef prepares traditional breakfasts, hearty river lunches, and gourmet cuisine for the dinner hour. Our guestrooms are immaculately clean and self-contained including bathroom and shower facilities.

The Bulkley River has one of the largest, if not the largest Steelhead run in the world. Over ninety miles of classic fly water holding scrappy Steelhead ranging from 6 to 30 pounds which commonly attack flies on the surface.

The Bulkley River is easy to wade and with an experienced guide is a magnificent river to drift and wade. Because the Bulkley river is the most stable river in the entire Skeena system it is less likely to flood or color and that translates to superior fly fishing conditions throughout the season. The prime time to fly fish for Steelhead is August 15th to November 15th. The river also has populations of Cutthroat, Rainbow, and Dolley Varden.

From the beginner to the expert fisherman and fisherwoman, we offer an exciting experience for all. Our guides offer instructions in flycasting, fly tying, and wading. For the more experienced angler, we'll provide more challanging water and an opportunity for a white water rafting trip through the incredible Moricetown canyon.

Prime time is August 15th to Nov 15th
