The Great Marlin Fishing Company - Guatemala - Central America
The Great Marlin Fishing Company - Guatemala - Central America

Guatemala, you ask? Yes, Guatemala! Marlin fishing off the Pacific coast of Guatemala, the northern most country of Central America, offers anglers a once in a lifetime international sports fishing experience. Anglers return home with many memories that will last forever.

Blue Marlin are predominant in the region, although each season some Black Marlin do make a showing.

The Blue Marlin average in the 250-400lb range, and tend to be very aggressive as there is a lot of competition for predators given the abundance of Sailfish and other predators. Some Blue Marlin up to “Granders” have been reported.

The Fishing:

Marlin truly are hardy fighters, leaping and diving many times before becoming totally exhausted and giving in to the angler. When the angler finally brings their sail in along side the boat and looks deeply into it's large translucent eyes, he will never forget the experience.

Be ready for a fight! Catching a billfish on a fly rod is different than fly fishing for Spanish mackerel, redfish, jack crevalle or snook. The adrenaline rush when fighting a sailfish is similar to catching a 70 to 140 pound tarpon and it goes off the chart if a marlin or giant tuna is hooked.

The Great Marlin Fishing Company supports and promotes catch and release for all billfish – it has been the law in Guatemala since the inception of the fishery.

The Accommodations:

Our packages are all-inclusive; we will take care of you from the time that you land in Guatemala until we return you either to your International Hotel the evening prior to departure, or to the airport on the day of departure. The Great Marlin Company offers accommodation alternatives to suit all of our clients needs.

We offer private 3&4 bedroom villas sleeping up to 8 clients. They are staffed with a personal chef, maid and waitress, so that there is maximum flexibility for menus and individual preferences.

Each villa is equipped to an “International” standard with conveniences such as large “American Style” fridges, drinking water, air conditioning – and good, hot showers !

Some villas also have Satellite TV and games accessories such as pool table, game table etc.

Additional activities:

One of the opportunities that the International Billfish/ Sailfish angler traveling to Central America experience during their deep sea saltwater sport fishing charter vacation is the sights and culture of the host country. The Great Marlin Fishing Company can put together a custom tour package that will enhance your central America / Guatemala sport fishing vacation.
