The Tsiu (pronounced sigh-u) River is located on the Gulf Coast of Alaska 80 miles east of Cordova, and 106 miles west of Yakutat. The Tsiu River Lodge lies at the base of the Wrangel Mountains. On the day before your arrival date at the lodge you fly into Cordova via Alaska Airlines and overnight in a great little hotel. The following day you shuttle to Dierick's Tsiu River Lodge by FAA approved single engine air-taxi. You fly over country that is home to many moose, and black and brown bear, sea otter, seals, and sea lions along the coast as well.
Accommodations: Our lodge consists of a large cookhouse and lounge area where our clients are served Alaskan sized meals. Don't plan on loosing any weight - the food is really good. There are six comfortable guest cabins with full bath and showers. We have a large building that contains the crew showers, bathrooms, storage room, and laundry. We have three powerful generators that assure continuous power for our camp. We have a good sized heated drying room where our clients can hang their waders and rain gear. We have a 16' X 32' recreation building where clients can watch videos on a television, tie flies, play cards or just visit and relax.
The Fishing: Silver salmon fishing is at its best from mid-August through mid-October, and there is a small steelhead run during May and September. During the peak of the salmon run you will see and catch unbelievable numbers of Silver Salmon in the 6 to 20 pound range - fresh and bright, right out of the Gulf of Alaska, as they migrate near the lodge. Not included: Airfare, taxes, overnight in Cordova or Yakutat, personal expenses, fishing equipment, charter to lodge, fishing license and gratuities are not included. Cost of the charter flight for is approximately $400.00 per person (although it could be more or less depending on the number of persons on board), and the flight to camp takes about 45 minutes.
