Royal Wolf Lodge - Alaskan Experience

Where fly fishing is taken seriously, an art form handed down from generation to generation. Pristine country, private waters, small groups of friends...

The sound of loons calling, while you sleep peacefully in your private cabin...

Tomorrow another day to fly to a new stream, teeming with trout, just waiting for that perfect fly to be cast.

Built on a promontory, surrounded by lakes, rivers, streams and gently rolling hills, Royal Wolf Lodge is located in the center of Katmai National Park on 120 acres of privately owned wilderness.

A fly-out lodge that lets you experience Alaska in a personal way. Providing private waters, as well as the most productive streams in Alaska. Our pilots regard your air safety as paramount and our safety record is impeccable.

A place you will want to return to, even bring the rest of your family. Chris and Linda Branham are second-generation Alaska wilderness lodge owners, with a tradition that dates back to pioneering Alaska. They have brought their accumulated experience, knowledge and enthusiasm into the creation of this first-class lodge.

Chris Branham was born in Tanzania East Africa. He came to Alaska at the young age of 18, where he learned to fly an airplane before he could get rid of his British accent. Next year will mark his 40th year of being a bush pilot in Alaska. His families experience and Chris’s expertise in the lodge business is unequaled in the fly-fishing world of Alaska.

A wilderness experience, with all the creature comforts of home, but none of the distractions. Just great fishing, fine food and wine and good people to share it with.

    Accommodations:

Royal Wolf Lodge caters to 14 anglers, providing personalized service in a quiet atmosphere.

The main lodge overlooks two lakes, surrounded by the best fly fishing waters in southwest Alaska.

We provide tastefully furnished, private cabins with private bath, outstanding views and all the comforts of home.

Our meals are prepared in the main lodge and will please the most educated palate.

Our staff and guides have been carefully selected to provide you with knowledgeable, personable service. We have carefully selected only best Alaskan guides and they have been with us for many years.

    The fishing:

We fish primarily wadable streams and rivers. Having our own private leases ensures seclusion and productivity. We also have jet-boats and rafts that allow alternate access to the surrounding rivers, streams and lakes.

Our special aircraft, float equipped Helio-Couriers, permit us entry to areas conventional float planes find impossible. Permitting you to fish territories in Alaska where few, or no others, have ventured. As of 2002 we have also added a fully reconditioned DeHaviland Beaver to our fleet of aircraft.

We plan each day differently, providing remembrances of time well spent. Our guide program is innovative in its field, embodying a quintessential blend of ethics, intelligence and hard work.

A ratio of one guide for every two or three guests guarantees you the a top notch experience.

Guests arrive and depart Royal Wolf Lodge on Friday. Most guests take a scheduled charter flight coordinated by Royal Wolf Lodge, from Anchorage to the village of Igiugig. The flight departs Anchorage at 10 PM, arriving in Igiugig at 20 PM. The departure back to Anchorage will be at 110 AM, arriving in Anchorage at 120.
