Charlie is an excellent and innovative fly tyer...matching flies to bugs..and a guide who can help you learn to find and catch fish. He fished many years a 100 days a year honing his skills and techniques for the rivers he now guides...the Upper Sac, the McCloud river, the Pit River, and will go to "small mountain creeks" in the area if asked.
Check out the McCloud River Streamtime map for some of the Brown trout caught on the McCloud by Charlie...the clients have caught some even larger.
Charlie is licensed as a guide by the Calif. Dept. of Fish & Game. Charlie also operates under Permit from the Shasta-Trinity and Lassen National Forests on a non-discriminatory basis.
For group outings Charlie works with guides Ron Hart, Alan Blankenship, and others in the area as needed.
BEGINNING FLY FISHER SPECIAL For kids and family who are just getting into the sport, or want to get aquainted with these rivers, it is best to plan a 2 half-days outing so the younger and untrained arms don't get exhausted...we go out early, as weather and water conditions dictate, and end around mid-day...the fee is $510 for 2 anglers fishing the McCloud one day and the Upper Sac the other...Charlie can make it easy on the wading depending on ability.
ROLL CAST If you want to learn how to roll cast for distance, and improve your mending at a distance, Charlie can help you improve your skills to open up more fishable water in your future. He does this associated with fishing but it is more instructional than covering lots of water...bring your determination to achieve if you request this outing.
